TOM KELLY POETRY READING 24th February
Tom Kelly fans will be able to hear readings from his latest poetry collection at the Central Library in South Shields next Wednesday (24th February).
‘Somewhere in Heaven’ displays his concern with and sense of loss in his north-east community and moves from individual Catholic childhood experiences out into the wider social sphere.
Jarrow born Tom is also recognised as one of the north east’s most prolific playwrights and his adaptation (withh Ken Reay) of ‘The Machine Gunners,’ by Robert Westall has just finished a very successful run at the Customs House. His collection of monologues ‘Talking Tom’ will also be appearing there next month before a short regional tour and Tom will be appearing in the production reading some of his highly praised poetry.
The event at the Central Library begins at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Tickets are free and can be obtained from the Information Desk at the Central Library, South Shields or telephone 0191 424 7863 for details or to reserve a ticket.
