I’m one proud dad.
Customs House YT at the National
The Youth Theatre from the Customs House in South Shields travels to London this week to take part in the National Theatre’s Connections festival where they will perform Cloud Busting by Helen Blakeman, based on the novel by Malorie Blackman, on Thursday.
Only eight groups from the 200 who took part in the festival nationally were selected to appear at the National.
“The whole building is celebrating the success,” said Customs House director Ray Spencer. “It must be every professional actor’s dream to perform at the National Theatre and tread the boards where all the greatest actors have performed, and this is a life-changing opportunity for our young people.
“I am very proud of them and our modern apprentices who gave technical support – this is deserved reward for our two directors, Fiona Kelly and Wayne Miller, who work with the young people every week.”
