TYNESIDE REBELS TALK
Anyone who ever joined a protest march will be interested in the talk at next Wednesday’s Heritage Club (21st October) at South Shields Central Library.
Retired lecturer John Charlton will look at youth and politics on Tyneside in the late fifties and early sixties in his talk ‘Don’t you Hear the H Bomb’s Thunder?’
This will be a popular return visit to the Wednesday Heritage Club for John whose illustrated talk will be based on his recently published book of the same title and will explore the developments and dilemmas affecting the politically aware left wing youth, their activities and debates and the political veterans who influenced or tried to influence them.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase and John will be pleased to sign them.
The talk begins at 2pm and admission is free but tickets must be obtained in advance from the Information Desk at the Central Library. For more details or to reserve a ticket please call (0191) 424 7863.
