A good night had by all.
On Friday 23rd April, at 7.30 pm, Red Squirrel held a celebratory event at South Shields Central Library for what would have been James Kirkup’s 92nd birthday: the first James Kirkup Memorial Poetry Competition event.
There was readings from the competition winner and runners up, plus special guest readings by Red Squirrel Press poets Alistair Robinson and Tom Kelly. And the Anthology is available.
Runners up included….Bob Beagrie, Gerda Mayer, DA Prince and Elizabeth Rimmer.

Sheila Wakefield, ,Managing Editor of Red Squirrel promised that the competition would be an annual event. And it is free to enter.
