Ten by Ten is taking a well deserved rest in August but before we pack our holiday trunk and head off in to the sunset we have one more night of fabulous spoken word for you.

Joe Kriss performed at venues such as the Tate Modern, The Roundhouse Theatre and The Winter Gardens. The creative writing editor of Now Then, one of the most widely distributed outlets for new writing in the country, Joe is also the creative force behind `Word Life’ and he is our special guest this month.

Enid Lee is a regular at the Waddy Night in Durham and is making her first appearance at Ten by Ten. Nigel Mellor grew up in Newcastle. His poems have appeared in a broad range of publications both inside and outside the poetry world. At readings Nigel’s powerful style engages the widest audiences.
Simon Van der Velde is a local writer – reading an excerpt from his new book W.I.P. Killing ghosts. Poetry Jack is making a welcome return to the Ten by Ten stage.
Kevan Ogden is a rhythmical and comical poet who adds a soupcon of sadness to his work.
A native of South Shields, Jim Doxford now lives in Manchester in the bohemian suburb of Chorlton. Inveigled into the famous Manky Poets group, Jim has appeared at various Manchester events, most recently as part of the Hungry Pigeon Festival in May. Jim’s work mixes topicality with a look back to family and the enduring pull the North East has on its exiles.
Julie Egdell is a Creative Writing graduate from Whitley Bay. She has been published in Kenaz magazine, the Wilds Anthology, Sentinel and Black Light Engine Room. She currently works as a freelance journalist. Yvonne Young has been a regular at Ten by Ten over the last couple of years and we are chuffed she is showcasing some new work this month.
Also making a welcome return after winning the All-Comers Poetry Slam at the Tyneside Cinema in May is David Morgan.
