The writer Peter Mortimer spent two months working in the Shatila Refugee Camp in Beriut. Peter spent time working with the children of the camp school to create, and for them then to perform on camp, a 30 minute play, which incorporated music, dance and physical theatre. Peter is bringing 10 young actors, (and four of their teachers) to perform the play in the autumn on Tyneside. Various fundraising activities have been arranged to help fund the trip and as part of the fundraising there will be a Shatila Social at the Cumberland Arms.
Donate and Perform
If you are either a poet/slammer/spoken word artist/singer songwriter/comedian and would like to perform on the same stage as two of Tyneside’s great rock legends and help raise money for this very important project then send me your name. We are asking every performer to make a donation to the Shatila fund. Spots are limited. Email jeffprice@btopenworld.com to register your name and donation.
