Radikal Words with the support of Apples and Snakes presents a night of the world’s best performance poets. Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze is an internationally renowned Jamaican ‘Dub’ poet, director and playwright. Her words carry resonant political and personal messages, and audiences around the world relate to and are inspired by her work. She offers an electric stage presence with rhythmic wordplay. Her varied life and colourful
personality has shaped a voice that demands attention, whether speaking of Third
World poverty, reggae music, life in inner-cities, family, the Caribbean, freedom or
other themes that challenge and celebrate the human experience.
Plus Tony Walsh aka Longfella, was Poet in Residence at Glastonbury Festival 2011, reflecting his reputation as “one of the UK’s most renowned performance poets.” His poetry, by turns comical and deeply moving, has been commissioned by BBC TV and radio, performed around the UK and Europe, and published at home, in the USA and translated into Russian.
