Into The Rain
Shipyard’s closed,
gates knotted with iron.
Men waited for buses to everywhere:
Newcastle East, West.
Here my father lost three toes
cut off by metal.
Discoloured nameplates
nod from half-eaten walls,
we screw our eyes into the rain.
