Here’s one of the poems ‘Like My Head’
Like My Head
Crossing fields,
snow firm beneath my shoes,
work round the corner,
so cold this morning.
I can’t see the future,
can’t imagine anything
apart from this.
Shipyard’s deathly quiet:
the Time Office fire buckles up the chimney.
Gateman reads Thomas Hood.
Time-Keeper sings light opera.
The workers are angry.
Cold severs emotions.
The manager’s uncaring,
kicks up the toilet seat.
The list is longer
but my fingers ache
like my head.
