Andy Croft Launch Tonight!!
Wednesday 13th May, 7.00pm Andy Croft launches ‘Sticky’
The word stikhi means poems or verses in Russian. It comes from the Greek stikhoi, meaning lines of words – or soldiers. Sticky is a book of poems about an age of imperial slaughter already sticky with blood and lies. Sticks and stones may break our bones, but depleted uranium really hurts us.
The Lit & Phil, Westgate Road, Newcastle Upn Tyne
“Croft knows how to stay this side of despair, to remain gently and convincingly compassionate, friendly and human in the face of the worst we are capable of. Everything about this book works at the highest level and it confirms Croft as a writer everyone with an interest in poetry should be familiar with. Let’s hope the queen and the prime minister soon read him. It seems they need to.”

“The collection ends with a Letter To Randall Swingler, where the poet delivers a compelling attack on the real criminals who’ve dragged us into an era of endless war.
Honest, moving and often funny, Sticky stands out against the obtuse and elitist rubbish that currently dominates the poetry scene.”
