Alan Morrison new collection
A new poetry book by Alan Morrison is due out on 10 Feb from Smokestack Books.
Keir Hardie Street is a narrative poem set at the turn of the 20th century where Allan Jackdaw, a struggling writer, finds a social utopia off the secret Sea-Green Line of the London Underground, taking in tales of accidental capitalist Short Shanks the Shopkeeper, The Turpentine Prophet (Robert Tressell), the Ghost of a Poet (John Davidson) and the Hermit of Hercules Buildings (William Blake) along the way. But Jackdaw is awed most of all by the story of James Keir Hardie, who rises from the obscurity of a Scottish mining town to become the first Parliamentary leader of a new political movement which intends to represent the interests of the common people…
